I was a child of the 80s; I grew up at a time when you could still rent Beta video tapes, Amiga and Commodore software was sold along side cassette tapes in the "music" store, New York Seltzer was the latest in beverages,  and Carebears ruled the earth. This page is dedicated to the memory of all the great memories of times long past.

Television...

There have been lots of great TV shows from time to time. Some can still be found in reruns on cable, others have disappeared into obscurity. What have been some of my favorites? They've changed over time. First there were the days when I used to love Mathnet on Square One. Today's Special, Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street were the only other shows I knew. Watching cartoons meant Garfield and Friends. What other cartoon was there? Other shows I once used to watch range from Out of this World to Small Wonder. After school TV meant watching Animaniacs or reruns of Full House and Step By Step. Prime Time TV meant more Full House, The Simpsons, Party of Five, Bewitched, the Brady Bunch, and many others that have come and gone as new episodes and reruns over the years.

Movies...

People ask me sometimes, "what's my favorite movie?" My answer occasionally varies but one of my old favorites is "To Be or Not To Be", mind you its not Shakespeare or anything. No, it's a 1984 comedy staring Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft. The plot is that there is this group of Polish actors who perform sketch comedy in the time of world war II, but then along comes the war, and they are ordered to close, and Shakespeare is the only think that's not too controversial for their troupe to perform. Meanwhile someone is discovered dead and impersonations begin...

Computers...

Computers have changed a great deal in a relatively short period of time. For example just look at my Top 10 Computer Programs of 1997. Somehow I highly doubt I would pick the exact same programs today.

In Memory of the Microsoft Mouse 1.0: That mouse was nice. It was small, and only required two fingers to operate. It double clicked fast. And the mouse ball was big and solid.

A Tribute To Windows 3.1: Windows 3.1 was very elegant in it's day. I always thought the interface was very "clean" looking with the simple blue and white color scheme, compared to its successor Windows 95. I used to use Plugin For Program Manager to customize the folder icons back then. But, going back to that quote in my title graphic "the good old days weren't always good" you have to remember, Windows 3.1 was the days before right click menus appeared on everything and plug and play wasn't. I have reinstalled Windows 3.1 on my machine a few times since those days. It is pretty consistent that I impressed by the "clean" look of the interface, but I miss those handy right click menus.
