Salvation Gospel in a Nutshell
- Our sin nature (we are separated from God b/c of our sin)
- We were created for good but became sinful
- Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of god
- We are not “Good”, only God is good
- Mark 10:17-18 “No one is good except God alone”
- James 2:10 (Break one part of the law, broken it all)
- We deserve death
- Rom 6:23 “Wages of sin = death, but gift of god = eternal life”
- 1 Cor 6:9 (habitual sinners will not inherit the kingdom of God)
- We are spiritually helpless
- Jer 17:9 “the heart is deceitful”
- John 3:3 “no one can see the kingdom of God unless one is born again”
- Works, religion, philosophy, morality, etc. cannot get you to heaven
- Prov 14:12 “there is a way that seems right to a man but it leads to death”
- Is. 59:2 “your iniquities have separated you from God..
- Good news: God’s Forgiveness
- Christ is God who became a man
- John 1:1, 1:14 (Word was God, Word became flesh)
- Christ died as our substitute
- 1Pet3:8 “Christ died for our sins to bring you to God”
- Is 53:5 “He was pierced for our transgressions, by his wounds we = healed”
- Christ offers his forgiveness as a gift
- Eph 2:8-9 “saved by grace, not works, so that no one can boast”
- Rom 5:8 “Christ demonstrates his love by: while we were still sinners, christ died for us”
- We have to respond
- 1John1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness”
- Rom 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”
- Rom 10:13 “whoever calls on the Lord will be saved”
- Rev. 3:20 “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him”
- John 1:12 “to all that received him, believed his name, he gave the right to become children of God”
- Salvation prayer
- Pray with them (Have them repeat after you)
- Admit need for savior (I am a sinner)
- Turn from sin (repent, ask forgiveness)
- Believe Jesusdied on the cross for you and rose from the grave.
- Invite Jesus to come in and take control of your life.
- Pray for them
- to grasp the decision they have made
- to grow in their relationship w/ Jesus
- Show them scripture in bible that they are saved and have eternal life
- Example sinner’s prayer:
- Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins. I invite you to come into my heart and my life. I want to trust and follow you as Lord and savior. In Jesus name. Amen
- Result: Become Children of God
- Trusting in God as Lord & Savior
- Savior – Christ takes away the death sentence and gives us eternal life w/ him
- Lord – Christ has control of our life, gives us strength and guidance into obedience.
- Transformation by the holy spirit
- 2 Cor 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has perished, the new has come”
- 1 Cor 6:19-20 “Your body = temple of Holy Spirit who is in you...you were bought at a price

- Mat 7:21 (Not everyone who says they know God will enter kingdom of heaven)
- religious activity and knowledge is not enough to be saved
- John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me”
