San Diego Rain

April 15th, 2003

I confirmed my earlier hypothesis today--that my sunroof only leaks when my car is parked on an incline or it is pouring really hard while i'm driving (which automatically in san diego is not 100% flat).

I went to campus at 10am. Why? Cuz I was up, and it wasn't raining hard, so I might as well go to campus to study or something. At least there i'd actually *get* some studying done.

Anyway, I had to come back for a change of pants on the way to school, cuz despite only leaking a small amount, the sunroof water seemed to miss the towel spread over my leg and go straight around me in some freak of nature impossible way to land right on my crotch. So a two or three inch wet circle right *there* would be not only embarrassing, but uncomfortable and probably make my undies all wet and uncomfortable too...so good choice to change.

I should just wear a sign on my head--MY SUNROOF HAS A LEAK--cuz seriously I think the people who have to hear about it grows exponentially every time it rains.

But on the bright side, I managed to drive all the way home without a single indoor downpour today. And you know what my theory is? Because it was only raining lightly when I got to my car, and my car was parked in Regents lot which is about as completely level as humanly possible. It seems to collect the most water when parked facing uphill, second downhill, and level the least of all.

so I guess I was insanely lucky when I got home to find my roommates had finally vacated the driveway for once ever, so I got to park my car sheltered from a miserable ride to school tomorrow... now if i actually had the motivation to go drive all the way to pangea tomorrow, maybe I can get away with not getting poured on at all ::grin::

or then again, the weather *could* do something nice, like stop raining. What is this, the THIRD rainstorm this year? and that's already seeming "uncharacteristic" for san diego. this is supposed to be a desert people. it's not supposed to rain here this often, thank you. Rain is forbidden in this part of the state, we aren't allowed to have weather =) (haha, they actually said something like that on the news last night about having "weather"...they don't even know what to call non-sunshine in san diego i swear...it's almost as funny as watching LA news stations report about a storm. "when we say coming down, we mean like buckets of water, really coming down. you may want a jacket AND an umbrella" hahaha
