Quick Facts: Departure Date: June 8th, 2007 Return Date: September 3rd, 2007 Destination: Masaka, Uganda (Africa) Primary Objectives: Teaching, Partnering with Faith Organizations |
The first two weeks of the trip were spent working with Tulsa, Oklahoma based missions group Believers World Outreach (BWO). We were part of a team of about 70 people (many of whom are from my home church The Rock) and spent one week in Jinja and one week in Masaka, in both places working with ministries associated with orphanages. I was part of the orphanage ministry team. After the first two weeks, the rest of the BWO team returned to the US, but a small group of us (nine of us) from San Diego stayed on longer as missionaries for Jireh Ministries Foundation Inc. working with the Jireh Childrens Center (JICC).

You can also read about some of my past misson trips to other places here.
You might also consider sponsoring a child at the Jireh Childrens Center (where I am in Africa) through Jireh Ministries Foundation. The sponsorship program for Jireh is still really new, so there is a lot of need for sponsors, even though the program isn’t as established as sponsorship programs through other organizations. I am sponsoring a 10 year old girl named Jane–I was so excited when the info sheet on Jane arrived and I found out she wants to be a computer scientist when she grows up! One of my friends joked that she’s probably the only girl there who knows what a computer scientist is.
